The New Orleans Saints are getting a jumpstart on the process of whittling down the team's roster.
Thursday the team waived four players: running back Timothy Flanders, wide receiver Tobais Palmer, tight end Je'Ron Hamm and linebacker Chindera Uzo-Diribe.
The Saints roster now sits at 86. The first round of mandated cuts comes next Tuesday, August 26, when every team must reduce its roster to 75.
The final roster cuts are due by 4:00 pm EST on Saturday, August 30. At that point, each team can only have a maximum of 53 active players.
