MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun stood at his locker after Tuesday's 4-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics and addressed an ESPN "Outside the Lines" report that stated Braun could face a suspension from Major League Baseball in the next few weeks.
"I've already addressed everything related to the Miami situation," Braun said. "I addressed it in spring training. I will not make any further statements about it. The truth has not changed. I don't know the specifics of the story that came out today, but I've already addressed it, I've already commented on it and I will say nothing further about it. I hope you guys can respect that, as I said in spring training."
According to the report, Major League Baseball will seek suspension for 20 players — including Braun — connected to the anti-aging clinic accused of providing players with banned substances. Braun was asked if a possible suspension was on his mind during the game.
"Of course not," Braun said. "I've dealt with this for two years. I've dealt with it off and on for the last year and a half, I guess. I think I'm pretty good at avoiding distractions."
The story was released by ESPN a short time before the Brewers took the field against the Athletics, but Braun wasn't aware of the story during the game.
"I found out afterward," Braun said. "Our PR department made me aware. I haven't read the story or heard about the specifics about it. They told me after the game."
Though he did not field any questions specifically about the report, Braun was asked how he stays mentally strong.
"We all deal with challenges in life," Braun said. "I think for all of us as baseball players there's distractions whether it's family situations, relationship situations, there's all kinds of stuff that come up throughout the course of the season. For all of us, we have a job to do regardless of what those distractions are. Obviously, this hasn't been fun, it's not easy, it's not something I enjoy, but regardless, I have a job to do and I do my best to do that job every day."
