Royals solidify opening day roster
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Royals have finalized their 25-man roster for opening night against the New York Mets at Kauffman Stadium.
The Royals have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Chien-Ming Wang, adding him to the 25-man Major League roster. To make room, the club has placed left-handed pitcher Tim Collins on the 60-day disabled list with a left ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injury. The Royals have also placed outfielder Jarrod Dyson on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain. Dyson's D.L. placement is retroactive to March 25.
The club has re-assigned pitchers David Huff and John Lannan as well as infielders Cody Decker and Whit Merrifield to minor league camp.
The Royals currently have 40 players on their 40-man roster, with left-handed pitchers Mike Minor, Jason Vargas and Collins on the 60-day disabled list.
