JOHANNESBURG (AP) Joe Root's century rescued England from 108-6 to post a reasonably competitive 262 all out against South Africa in the fourth one-day international on Friday.
Root made 109 for his second century of the series, and has been England's outstanding batsman in the four games so far.
Opener Alex Hales was caught on the boundary for 50 to start a slide of five wickets for 21 runs at the Wanderers. Legspinner Imran Tahir dismissed Hales, and then Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes in his next over.
Kyle Abbott chipped in with the wickets of Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali.
Root hit 10 fours and a six and successfully reviewed when he was given out lbw on 95. TV replays showed he edged the ball onto his pad.
