The Arizona defense – already struggling to find its footing - took a hit this week when Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez announced after Tuesday's practice that he has suspended junior defensive end Justin Washington for unspecified team rules violations.
"For right now, he's not practicing,'' Rodriguez told reporters after practice. "He's got to do some other things before we allow him to join the Wildcats."
Washington (6-foot-2, 268 pounds) had 18 total tackles last season after having 46 as a freshman when he was named an All-American.
Coming into this season, Washington was considered to be frontrunner to start, but now it's not clear when or if he will return.
