Rivers not concerned with Clippers' 0-3 preseason start
There's no reason for panic over the Clippers' preseason record, according to coach Doc Rivers.
The Clippers are 0-3 in the preseason, having lost to Golden State, Portland and most recently Monday's 102-89 loss at Utah.
"I do have one announcement," Rivers said while smiling. "We're probably not going to win the preseason championship."
Rivers was at Trump National Golf Course on Tuesday for the Clippers' annual Charity Golf Classic. Rivers and assistant coach Mike Woodson were among those playing in the tournament. Clippers players had the day off but some were getting treatment. Clippers players were scheduled to attend the evening's dinner, and all activities were benefiting the Clippers Foundation and Special Olympics of Southern California.
Rivers said he and his staff are looking at lots of different lineup combinations, especially minutes at small forward, where the Clippers have started Matt Barnes, Reggie Bullock and Chris Douglas-Roberts.
"We came into this knowing Matt would play a lot, and we want to try to find out who else will play with him," Rivers said. "We still haven't figured it out."
The Clippers play again Friday when they host Utah in a preseason game at the Staples Center, followed by a Saturday game against the Denver Nuggets in Las Vegas, which is where the Clippers held their training camp.
Blake Griffin scored 31 points in Monday's loss to Utah, and the Clippers were outrebounded 55-32. The previous day, the Clippers were outrebounded 49-35 by Portland.

"I'm not that concerned right now," Rivers said. "We're trying some things and doing a lot of different things and we'll figure it all out."
The Utah Jazz released streamers after their win over the Clippers on Monday night. Asked what his reaction was to that display after a preseason win, Rivers said he didn't see it and joked that he should be paying more attention to games.
Then he was told the Jazz were undefeated in the preseason.
Asked if the golf outing could be helpful as a distraction, Rivers said: "I don't know if we need any distractions in preseason. We've got a lot of games left. We needed a day off, which is good. I don't know if our guys count this as a day off. They'd rather sleep all day, probably."
The Clippers have five preseason games left before opening the season at home against Oklahoma City on Oct. 30.
