Report: Rams to hire Rob Ryan
It appears it won't take long for Rob Ryan to find work after being fired by Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys.
According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, Ryan has been hired as the defensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams. When reached for comment, a team source could not confirm the report.
Ryan has had stints as the defensive coordinator for the Oakland Raiders (2004-2008), Cleveland Browns (2009-10) and Dallas Cowboys (2011-2012).
The Rams had a vacancy at the position after the NFL suspended Gregg Williams for his role in the bounty scandal while the defensive coordinator with the New Orleans Saints. Williams' son Blake, the Rams linebacker coach, called the defensive plays during the suspension. Blake Williams and the team parted ways earlier in the month.
Ryan will join the staff of a defensive-minded coach in Jeff Fisher. Fisher played for Rob's father Buddy in Chicago and coached under him in Philadelphia.
Fisher won't be the only familiar face for Rob in St. Louis. Rob's brother, Jim Ryan, is an attorney who has lived in St. Louis for the past 20 years.
