There has been little news regarding Browns Pro Bowl center Alex Mack fielding offers from other teams.
However, according to the Florida Times Union Mack met with Jaguars' GM Dave Caldwell and coach Gus Bradley on Friday.
Fox Sports' Mike Garafolo posted this on his twitter account Saturday.
"Though Alex Mack's visit with the Jaguars is over, there are ongoing discussions between the sides, source says."
He also said the Browns have had ongoing discussions with Mack's representatives, as well.
"The Browns haven't been sitting idly on him. They've been trying to work out a multiyear deal."
According to the NFL Players Association, the Browns have the most salary cap space currently of any NFL team with $30.8 million. The Jaguars have $25.1 million in cap space and could create a situation that would make it difficult for the Browns to match. Mack's agent, Marvin Demoff, said last month to Sports Illustrated that he was confident he could put together an offer the Browns wouldnât want to match.
If the Jaguars make an offer and Mack signs it, the Browns would have five days to match it. If they do not, they would receive no compensation because Mack was placed with the transition tag. If Mack were to sign the one- year transition tag with the Browns he would be paid $10.039 million for 2014 and then could become a free agent after next season.
