Renewal and Recovery: The Jon Wilhite Story
Five years ago today, 22-year-old Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed in a car crash just hours after he pitched six scoreless innings in his debut start of 2009 against the Oakland A's.
Two of his friends, 25-year-old Henry Pearson and 20-year-old Courtney Stewart were also killed when a drunk driver broadsided their car when the group was seconds away from where they planned to celebrate Adenhart's promising performance.
Shortly after the accident, FOX Sports West caught up with Wilhite to reflect on the weeks after the accident, how he coped with tragedy and his long road back to recovery.
