Redick to participate in 3-point shooting contest for first time in career
J.J. Redick will participate in the three-point shooting contest in the All-Star Game for the first time in his career.
He's thrilled, too.
"I don't know if I've ever been in the conversation, but I'm just excited and honored to be a part of All-Star weekend," Redick said. "... You'll have to post a high score this year.
"I've watched a couple years at home, and it's not the best field. I'm just saying, not the best field when you have non-shooters winning, but I think the NBA put together a great field this year. Hopefully, everybody does well, hopefully everybody shoots well and hopefully it's a show."
Redick has made 44 percent of his 3-pointers this season while averaging 14.9 points per game.
The Clippers' sharp shooter said the last time he won a 3-point shooting contest was at the high school McDonald's All-American Game. He said he won, and that it was in New York as well.

The competition will be much tougher this time around, as he will be competing against the defending champ, Marco Belinelli, both "Splash Brothers," Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, the man who is at or near the top of the list of MVP candidates, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, the NBA's best floor spacer in Kyle Korver and Wesley Matthews.
The three-point contest is part of the NBA's All-Star Saturday Night, Feb. 14, live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
