With goals hard to come by lately, the Red Wings are turning to their top farm club in Grand Rapids for help, calling up right wing Landon Ferraro.

Ferraro, 23, is third among Griffins with 42 points, including a career-high 27 goals in 70 games this season. That ties him for fourth among all American Hockey League scorers.

A fourth-year pro, Ferraro has 75 goals among 140 points in 270 games with the Griffins since 2009-10. The 6-foot, 185-pound forward was drafted by Detroit in the second round (32nd overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The Wings, holding the second of two wildcard spots in the Eastern Conference, have managed just seven goals in their last four games (1-2-1). They have three games remaining in the regular season, and lead ninth-place Ottawa by just two points.
