Rays place catcher Ryan Hanigan on DL with sore right hamstring
Ryan Hanigan's sore right hamstring will receive time to rest.
The Tampa Bay Rays placed the catcher on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, after the strained hamstring gave him trouble in recent days. He first suffered the injury May 16 in a victory over the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium, and he aggravated it Monday in a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.
He has hit .212 with three home runs and 22 RBI in 42 games this season.
Meanwhile, outfielder Kevin Kiermaier was promoted from Triple-A Durham. He has hit .250 with one home run and two RBI in five major-league games this season. With Durham this year, he has hit .305 with three home runs and 13 RBI in 34 games.
