Rangers designate Noesi for assignment

The ever changing pitching staff of the Texas Rangers took another turn Tuesday as the team designated right-hander Hector Noesi to create a roster spot for Tuesday starter Nick Martinez.

Noesi, who was acquired for cash or a player to be named from Seattle on April 12, pitched in three games for the Rangers. He was awful in Sunday's game against the Chicago White Sox, allowing seven runs in an inning. The Rangers have 10 days to trade, release or outright Noesi to the minor leagues.

By designating Noesi the Rangers also cleared a spot on the 40-man roster.  Noesi was acquired to give Texas a long man option. In five appearances between Texas and Seattle, Noesi has a 14.21 ERA.

Martinez doesn't figure to stay with the Rangers for long as the club will likely send him back to Double-A Tulsa when it activated left-hander Matt Harrison from the 15-day disabled list.
