Rangers add infielder Alberto to roster

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers recalled infielder Hanser Alberto from Triple-A Round Rock and optioned right-hander Phil Klein to Triple A to make room for Alberto.
Klein had been an option to pitch Saturday and the Rangers starter for the game against the Red Sox is still to be determined. One option could be right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez, who was scratched from his Thursday start for Round Rock.
The Rangers were carrying an extra pitcher and Alberto will give them more flexibility on the bench. Alberto, 22, was batting .303 for Round Rock with two home runs and 13 RBI in 42 games. The shortstop was a minor league Gold Glove winner last year. He's made one error in 171 chances this season.Ā
Klein was recalled to make a start for the Rangers May 20 and picked up a win against the Boston Red Sox. But against Cleveland Monday Klein was rocked for six earned runs in just two innings.
