ARLINGTON, Texas – The Rangers activated right-hander Koji Uehara from the disabled list Sunday and sent right-hander Tanner Scheppers to Round Rock.

Uehara missed 65 games with a strained right lat. Uehara, who had a 2.11 ERA before he got hurt, hasn't pitched for the Rangers since June 9.

He made two rehab appearances and is hoping pitching over the next month will give him time to build his confidence up.

"We only have a month left in the regular season and I wish I could enjoy the rest of the season," Uehara said. "It all depends on my mental side of the game. As long as I get confidence, I will be able to feel the best."

Scheppers made 29 appearances for the Rangers since coming up June 7. He was 1-0 with a 4.56 ERA. He won't be in Round Rock long as the Rangers plan to bring him back to Arlington as soon as the Express season ends.

"Scheppers certainly did make a good impression but he has options," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "He'll only be gone a week. He put himself in a position that he's a piece that we can have in that bullpen as we move forward in the future. He did a great job."
