Raji, Abbrederis and more to IR as Packers trim roster to 75

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It turns out the Green Bay Packers had enough injuries that they didn't need to release any more healthy players to get down to 75 by Tuesday's deadline.

The Packers placed six players on injured reserve, most notably starting nose tackle B.J. Raji. The torn right biceps suffered by Raji in Green Bay's third preseason game will require surgery and will keep him out for the entire season.

Joining Raji on injured reserve are fifth-round pick wide receiver and former Wisconsin Badger Jared Abbrederis, as well as offensive linemen Don Barclay and Andrew Tiller, running back Rajion Neal and linebacker Joe Thomas.

Two days earlier, the Packers released seven healthy players: wide receivers Chris Harper and Gerrard Sheppard, quarterback Chase Rettig, safety Charles Clay, cornerback Antonio Dennard, fullback Ina Liaina and linebacker Korey Jones.

This puts Green Bay's roster at 75 players. However, by Aug. 30 at 3 p.m. CST, the Packers will have to have their roster down to the final 53.
