Pollock hitting well on rehab stint, gets 1st taste of defense
A.J. Pollock is 5 for 7 with three walks in his first three rehab games with the Visalia Rawhide in the California League.
Pollock, serving as the designated hitter, went 2 for 2 with a walk in his only three plate appearances for the Rawhide in Thursday night's 4-0 victory over Bakersfield. He got his first action in center field on Wednesday night, playing six innings in a 1-0 loss to Bakersfield, but did not have a ball hit to him.
--Left-handed reliever Andrew Chafin pitched another scoreless inning in Wednesday's loss, walking one and striking out one. Chafin has get to give up a hit or a run in four rehab appearances with Visalia, walking two and striking out six over four innings of work.
--Lefty Alex Young (2-4) had his fourth consecutive strong outing on Wednesday, taking the loss despite limiting Bakersfield to four hits, three walks and one unearned run over six innings. Young, a second-round draft pick out of TCU in 2015, has given up one earned run in his last 27 innings.
--Joel Payamps (5-3) pitched seven scoreless innings for the Rawhide on Thursday, limiting Bakersfield to three hits and striking out eight.
