Pistons draft bust Darko Milicic done with NBA

Darko Milicic, one of the worst draft picks ever, confirmed to a Serbian website that his NBA career is over.

Milicic, a 7-footer from Serbia, was selected with the No. 2 pick overall by Detroit Pistons president Joe Dumars in 2003.

It's a mistake that Dumars will never live down. The next three picks were Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.

Milicic was a total flop with the Pistons, averaging just 1.5 points and 1.2 rebounds in 2 1/2 seasons of limited playing time before getting traded.

He went on to play for Orlando, Memphis, New York, Minnesota and Boston during his NBA career that covered parts of nine seasons. The Celtics released him last November after he appeared in only one game.

In the end, Milicic averaged six points and four rebounds in 438 NBA games.

So he did salvage his career to some extent, just not with Detroit and certainly not worthy of the No. 2 pick.
