ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Bob Baffert-trained Pimpernel held off heavily favored stablemate Hoppertunity by a half-length Wednesday in the $60,000 feature race at Santa Anita.
Pimpernel, ridden by Martin Garcia, ran seven furlongs in 1:22.06 and paid $14.20, $6.80 and $4.60 for his third victory in eight starts.
Hoppertunity, idle since running second to California Chrome in the Santa Anita Derby on April 5, returned $3.40 and $2.60. Kate's Event paid $4 to show.
