The Pelicans starting shooting guard Eric Gordon hopes to return to the court in approximately 2 weeks from a torn labrum in his left shoulder that sidelined him toward the end of November.

Gordon has been adhering to an extensive rehabilitation regiment in an effort to avoid surgery.

Tuesday during the Pelicans game versus the Pacers in Indiana, Gordon said he can now lift almost as much weight on his injured shoulder as on his good one. He has returned to light contact workouts, squaring off against New Orleans' assistant coaches.

Gordon completely tore his labrum in a perimeter collision with the Utah Jazz's Alec Burks on Saturday, Nov 22.

In addition to his demanding rehab schedule, Gordon has spent time both in New Orleans and in his hometown of Indianapolis hosting Christmas giveaways for the less fortunate.

Monday on the Pelicans day off in Indianapolis, Gordon returned to his childhood church, Barnes United Methodist Church, to deliver bags full of Christmas gifts and food. His mother and grandmother still attend services at BUMC.

Gordon's teammates are eager to see him return to action. After a dazzling win in Oklahoma City on Sunday, the Pelicans once again failed to produce consistent play and fizzled in Tuesday's game versus the Pacers.  The Pacers defense got the best of the Pelicans, holding them to 84 points, versus Indiana's 96.
