Pat McAfee might be the coolest dude in the NFL
Pat McAfee plays punter for the Colts. But that doesn’t define him. This week, we mistakenly left him off our top Twitter personalities to follow. He called us out. And now we’re taking this opportunity to suck up a bit.
Very Unamerican move by the usually flawless @foxsports..Read a list of sports "must follows".. We seem to define "must follow" differently — Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) May 2, 2013
McAfee is entering his fifth season in the NFL and played his college ball at West Virginia. That’s great. But what’s even better is his activity on the Internet. He has over 100,000 followers on Twitter and frequently posts videos on Vine. And his website — called The Pat McAfee Show — is ridiculously funny.
How can you not love this guy? Jim Irsay and the Colts think so much of him that they slapped the franchise tag on him this offseason. That’s gonna net him nearly $3 mill in 2013. Too much dough for a punter, you say? Think again. He deserves it. Check out this video of McAfee drilling a 75-yard field goal — in basketball shorts, of course. Sebastian Janikowski, close your eyes.
What does he do in his free time? Two years ago, McAfee worked out with the Columbus Crew. He’s an avid soccer fan and used to play.
He’s a great guy, too. Other than starting a foundation to provide scholarship assistance to sons and daughters of US military personnel, he recently contributed $5,000 to help catch a hit-and-run victim. Hey Pat, we know you’re booked up the next couple Sunday’s, but next time you’re in Los Angeles, make sure to stop by and say hello.
