GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The price to see the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field is going up in 2014. An increase of $3 per ticket is going into effect, with the team alerting season-ticket holders of the change in an invoice sent out this week.
"Our goal for ticket pricing is to be just below the League average," Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy said in the brochure being distributed. "With this increase, we project to rank 17th in average ticket price, which accomplishes the goal and maintains a fair visiting team contribution, as well. We're confident our top-rated Lambeau Field experience remains a great value for (ticket holders)."
The most expensive seat at Lambeau Field is now $100, which is at locations between the 20-yard lines and in the suites. The cheapest tickets, located in the end zones, are now $77.
Despite the increase, the Packers are still the least expensive ticket in the NFC North. The Chicago Bears charge $190 for a sideline seat, with the Minnesota Vikings at $150 and the Detroit Lions at $119.
Additionally, in response to the mess that was the organization's desperate attempts to get Lambeau Field sold out for the playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers, the Packers are now anticipating a change in approach of season-ticket holders purchasing postseason seats. It hasn't been finalized, but the Packers want to offer a "pay as we play" option that won't have payment apply until the game is certain to happen.
