Packers' Hawk happy to tackle fan on golf course
A.J. Hawk has taken some flak from fans over the years for not making enough big plays on the Packers defense.
So when a fan at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship Tournament in Lake Tahoe recently asked Hawk to tackle him, the linebacker who has only forced three fumbles in his nine-year career was more than happy to show he can still deliver a huge hit.
The fan, wearing sunglasses, a white tank top and perhaps a few layers of beer padding, seemed to relish the bro-opportunity to get sacked by Hawk, who is playing in the event this week along with Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The 6-foot-1, 240-pound Hawk set himself before jogging at and laying a pretty good lick on his willing victim.
After the hit, the watching crowd cheered and Hawk, in a backwards red hat, hugged the overjoyed fan before high-fiving his way down a line of admirers.
The Packers probably hope Hawk, a former fifth-overall pick who has never been voted to the Pro Bowl but led the team in tackles and had a career-high five sacks last year, can exert a similarly forceful impact on the gridiron in Green Bay as he did on the links in Tahoe.
