Newton to interview with Cowboys at NFL Combine

Cam Newton wasn't kidding around; Jerry Jones really does know how to get a hold of him.
According to a report from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the former Auburn quarterback will meet with and be interviewed by the Cowboys in what the paper describes as the team doing its "due diligence" on the Heisman Trophy winner, who has dealt with off-the-field issues in his collegiate career.
Per the paper, Newton is still considered a highly unlikely draft option for Dallas, with Tony Romo under contract for several more seasons. The report says the team is more interested in using its ninth overall pick on a defensive player such as Nebraska's Prince Amukamara, Alabama's Marcell Dareus or North Carolina's Robert Quinn.
Yet by bringing Newton in, the Cowboys will do little to quell the rising speculation linking them to the quarterback, which first arose Tuesday when Newton was interviewed by Dallas news station WFAA-TV.
"Jerry Jones, man, he knows how to get hold of me, let's just say that," Newton said at the time when asked about the prospect of playing for the Cowboys.
