NAU women look to start winning streak

Northern Arizona women's basketball returns to FOX Sports Arizona this week with a pair of Big Sky Conference games for the Lumberjacks.

NAU will  host Idaho at 6:30 pm. on Thursday night and Eastern Washington at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday night. Thursday's game can be seen on FOX Sports Arizona Plus, and Saturday's will be carried on FOX Sports Arizona. Jordan Byrd and Taryn Beveridge will call the action.

NAU is 5-9 overall and 1-2 in Big Sky Conference play following Saturday's 57-48 win over Southern Utah. Freshman Alyssa Rader, who leads NAU in scoring (13.7 points per game) and rebounding (9.1) had a huge game with 19 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. It was her Big Sky-leading eighth double-double of the season. Junior Rene Coggins contributed 14 points to raise her season average to 11.8.

Idaho, coming off a 74-66 loss to Eastern Washington, is 10-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Eastern Washington (9-6, 3-0) is one of two teams who are unbeaten in conference play.

NAU lost on the road to Idaho last season and lost twice to Eastern Washington -- once on the road and once in the conference tournament. The Lumberjacks have a four-game winning streak on their home court.
