Upon shedding the interim tag from his title in November, Philadelphia Union coach Jim Curtin spoke of adding a more dynamic threat up top.

It would appear the Union now have their man.

Philadelphia announced Friday the signing of striker Fernando Aristeguieta on loan from Ligue 1 side Nantes, adding the Venezuela international as a young designated player. Per league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"He adds a different quality up front and has experience at both the international and club levels," Union technical director Chris Albright said in a news release. "He's a player with a very bright future and we look forward to him having an immediate impact as we approach the season."

The 22-year-old, who has scored nine goals in 45 appearances for Nantes since signing with the club in January 2013, joins a forward corps already bolstered by the acquisition of C.J. Sapong from Sporting Kansas City. The Union also have re-signed veteran striker Conor Casey, who scored eight goals in 25 matches last season.

Internationally, Aristeguieta has one goal in 12 caps for Venezuela.
