ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Nancy From Nairobi rallied three-wide turning for home to win the $63,000 feature by 2 1/2 lengths Friday at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Abel Lezcano, Nancy From Nairobi ran a mile on turf in 1:34.70 and paid $6.60, $3 and $2.80 as the 2-1 second choice.
Glory returned $3 and $2.80 as the 3-2 favorite, while her stablemate, 26-1 shot Hijra, was another 2 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $6.80 to show.
Trained by John Sadler, Nancy From Nairobi was fifth in a field of seven older fillies and mares going into the far turn. She overtook pacesetter Glory approaching the sixteenth pole.
The victory, worth $37,800, increased Nancy From Nairobi's career earnings to $151,456, with four wins in 21 starts.
