ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Braves signed pitcher Peter Moylan to a multiyear minor-league contract on Wednesday, with an invitation to attend the club's major-league camp for spring training next season.
The 36-year-old Moylan, who underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow last March, will train and rehab in the Braves' minor-league camp this spring.
He'll then transition into the role of player/coach with the franchise's Rookie-A affiliate, when the Danville (Va.) Braves launch their season in June.
The Australian native enjoyed a seven-year stint with the Braves organization from 2006-12. For his 309 MLB appearances -- all in relief -- Moylan posted a 21-9 record, 2.80 ERA and 213 strikeouts (over 276 innings).
