Moss traded for Cardinals 2013 first round pick
CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Indians have dealt outfielder Brandon Moss to the St. Louis Cardinals. In return, Cleveland will receive minor league pitcher Rob Kaminsky. Kaminsky was the Cardinals first round pick in 2013. He was the No. 3 overall prospect in the Cardinals system.
The Cleveland Indians officially announced the trade Thursday morning.
The Cardinals are in desperate need of a power hitter and outfielder. They haven't scored in 22 consecutive innings and Matt Holliday re-injured his right quadriceps Wednesday. It's the same injury that caused the seven-time All-Star to miss 31 games.
Moss signed as a free agent during the offseason. While he did produce -- 15 homers, 50 RBIs in 94 games -- the Indians have fallen back in the AL wild-card race and figure they would try to get something for the 31-year-old.
Moss played four seasons in the NL with Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
