MLB, Indians to wear special edition camouflage caps and jerseys on Memorial Day
All Major League Baseball clubs will wear specially designed caps and jerseys on Memorial Day featuring an authentic military digital camo design officially licensed by USMC.
The special edition uniforms are a way for MLB to honor the military and give back to the troops. All net proceeds from sales of the jerseys and caps will go to Welcome Back Veterans, a program that provides treatment for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for returning U.S. Military veterans and their families.
"Major League Baseball considers it both a privilege and a responsibility to honor and assist our troops in any way we can," Commissioner Bud Selig said. "We are proud to support this initiative, and we ask our fans to join us on Memorial Day and beyond in this effort to raise awareness and funds for this important cause."
As a founding partner of Welcome Back Veterans, MLB has committed over $23 million dollars to the initiative, including donations and proceeds from other military tribute collections. In addition to the Memorial Day camouflage themed collection, teams will continue to wear the "Stars and Stripes" uniforms and hats on Fourth of July.
