Mercury sign veteran guard Lindsey Harding

The Phoenix Mercury have signed point guard Lindsey Harding, a nine-year WNBA veteran who was the No. 1 pick in the 2007 draft.

The Mercury are the sixth team in Lindsey Harding's WNBA career.

Hardin began the season with the New York Liberty, averaging 3.6 points, 4.2 assists and 22.9 minutes in five games. She's played for Minnesota (2007-08), Washington (2009-10), Atlanta (2011-12), Los Angeles (2013-14) and New York and averages 10.3 points and 4.2 assists per game for her career.

Harding will be active for the Mercury's road game on Friday night against the Washington Mystics.

The Mystics have won three in a row and 5 of 6 overall to even their record at 7-7. The Mercury have lost three in a row, are off to a 4-9 start and have yet to win on the road.

Diana Taurasi is averaging 19.8 points per game for Phoenix, which leads the WNBA in points per game at 86.8 but is last in points allowed (89.1) and 10th in rebounds and assists.

The Mercury won their previous meeting with the Mystics, 93-77, on May 29 in Phoenix.
