Meet the Bills’ Week 1 starting QB Jeff Tuel

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 12:37 p.m. ET

By Ross Jones, FOXSports.com About as fast as you can say “Tuel Time,” the jokes started piling on the Bills after they unveiled their plan that undrafted free agent quarterback Jeff Tuel will be the team’s Week 1 starting quarterback against the New England Patriots. To say it’s not an ideal situation is an understatement. The Bills acquired a veteran QB in Kevin Kolb in April and then selected E.J. Manuel with the 16th overall pick in April’s draft. Each quarterback has been sidelined with an injury during the preseason and reports have emerged that Kolb’s concussion could be career threatening. Manuel, who has been recovering from “minor” knee surgery, remains unable to participate in any activities, but the hope is he will be able to recover in time for Week 1. The Bills were proactive, signing Matt Leinart and trading for Thad Lewis on Sunday. So, just who the hell is Jeff Tuel? Well, here’s what we know about him:Tuel played four seasons at Washington State, but it wasn’t good enough for him to even get invited to the annual NFL combine. He did, however, have his pro day and the video lives on YouTube. Washington State won 3 games last season. Oh yeah, this time last year he was in a QB battle with Connor Halliday.

He kinda has this whole Michael Phelps look going on …

As of 10:17 a.m. PT, Tuel still remained unknown on Wikipedia. By 11:11 a.m. PT, he finally had his own page.
