BEREA, Ohio - The Cleveland Browns have a long-snapping issue, and now they appear to have a long-snapping competition.

The team signed long snapper Charley Hughlett to the practice squad Tuesday, five days after Hughlett was one of two long snappers to work out for the team. Christian Yount remains the lone long snapper on the regular roster.

Yount has had bad snaps in each of the first three games. The Browns were off last weekend and return to action Sunday at Tennessee.

Hughlett has spent time with Dallas, New England and most recently in training camp with Jacksonville. He and Kevin McDermott worked out for the Browns last Thursday; McDermott snapped for San Francisco last season.

Hughlett signing with the Browns practice squad was announced on Twitter by his agent, Brett Tessler.

The Browns signed Yount to a five-year extension in Aug. 2013, before his second full season with the team. Yount makes $645,000 this season and would make over $800,000 in each of the next three seasons.

Cleveland also placed defensive lineman Calvin Barnett on the practice squad injured list.
