Maurice Clarett has some advice for Ezekiel Elliott

Before Monday night's win over Oregon, Ohio State's last national title came at the end of the 2002 season, and in good part thanks to the rushing of Maurice Clarett.

On Wednesday, Clarett had some advice for Buckeye running back Ezekiel Elliott.

An article appearing on Time.com by Sean Gregory used Elliott as an example of underclassmen that should be allowed to take advantage of their position and enter the NFL draft. Another writer, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk says Elliott should not risk injury by playing for the Buckeyes in 2015.

It should be noted that Ezekiel Elliott has never been quoted as saying he wanted to forego the rest of his college career and enter the draft. Gregory's article simply used Elliott's fantastic showing in the postseason to make his case that a player whose stock is as high as it can get should be allowed to take advantage of that stock.

That's where Clarett comes in. Upon seeing the Gregory article, Clarett wanted to share some of his life experience with Elliott and used Instagram to warn him against trying to fight the NFL's early entry rules and to enjoy his college experience.

Clarett was suspended from the team in 2003, and decided to challenge the NFL's rule that a player had to be three years past his high school graduation. His challenge was initially upheld, but would be shot down by the United States Court of Appeals.

Clarett was drafted a year later by the Denver Broncos in the third round, but never played a down in the NFL and was waived.
