Marlins' Stanton sits fourth among NL outfielders in All-Star voting
Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton is fourth in All-Star voting for National League outfielders, as announced Wednesday afternoon.
Stanton is batting .316 with a major-league leading 49 RBI. He is tied for third with 15 home runs (first in the National League).
Charlie Blackmon of the Colorado Rockies (549,394) Andrew McCutchen of the Pittsburgh Pirates (467,378) and Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers (446,780) have more than votes than Stanton (426,228).
Only two Marlins have ever been voted in by the fans: shortstop Hanley Ramirez three times (2008-10) and third baseman Gary Sheffield (1993).
In 2012, Stanton was the lone Miami All-Star representative and was scheduled to compete in the home run derby. He couldn't participate in either because of an injury.
