Marlins option Carter Capps to Triple-A New Orleans

ATLANTA -- The Miami Marlins optioned right-handed reliever Carter Capps to Triple-A New Orleans following Wednesday's win over the Atlanta Braves.

Miami did so because right-hander David Phelps, who has been on the paternity list since Monday, will rejoin the ballclub on Thursday and start Friday's game against the New York Mets at Citi Field.

That means top righty prospect Jose Urena, who pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday in his big-league debut, will stick around. In what capacity has yet to be determined.

"To keep him as an extra long guy, but at the same time, too, we can use him," manager Mike Redmond said. "We'll find ways we can plug him in there."
