On Day 2 of the draft, the Miami Marlins opened their slew of picks by choosing high school center fielder Isaiah White.
White, from Greenfield School in Wilson, North Carolina, went 85th overall. Six of Miami's next seven picks were pitchers, including four collegiate right-handers.
In the fourth round, they selected righty Cody Poteet from UCLA. As a junior, he posted a 7-1 record with a 2.45 ERA in 27 appearances (13 starts). A round later, Miami turned to another college arm in southpaw Justin Jacome from the University of California-Santa Barbara. During his junior campaign, he went 7-5 with a 2.70 ERA in 16 starts.
