MIAMI (AP) -- Marlins starter Kevin Slowey exited Wednesday night's game against Philadelphia before the sixth inning because of a strained left lat muscle.
The team said Slowey was day to day.
Slowey took the mound following the fifth inning and began to warm up. He then motioned toward the Marlins dugout and shook his head.
Miami manager Mike Redmond then came on the field, spoke with the umpires and removed Slowey. Wade LeBlanc replaced Slowey.
Miami trailed 1-0 when Slowey left. Slowey gave up six hits, including Delmon Young's fourth-inning home run, and struck out six.
