Texas A&M star Johnny Manziel isn't going anywhere for at least another season, but said in a recent interview he will weigh his NFL options when the time comes.
"You never know how things might play out," Manziel told ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit. "If an opportunity comes to go to the NFL, you have to look at that just like you have to look at everything."
NFL rules require college players to remain in school for three seasons before they can declare for early entry into the draft. Manziel redshirted his first season at Texas A&M and will be a sophomore, eligibility-wise, during the 2013 season.
If he forgoes his final two seasons of eligibility, Manziel could declare for the April 2014 draft. But it's not something the Heisman Trophy winner has in the forefront of his mind right now.
"For me, the NFL is the thing that's always been, kind of somewhat like the Heisman," Manziel told Herbstreit. "It's been a dream as a kid to be able to have an opportunity to even be talked about being able to play in the NFL.
"For me, I'm enjoying my time here for sure and if [the NFL] comes calling, just like anybody else, the decision will have to be made."
Manziel, who led A&M to an 11-2 season and a win in the AT&T Cotton Bowl, then made it a point to say that he is happy being in college.
"I'm very happy here and very happy with Coach [Kevin] Sumlin and in college football," Manziel said. "I love it."
