Manny Pacquiao plans to ignore his ban from an L.A. shopping mall
Manny Pacquiao is not bothered by his ban from The Grove shopping mall in Los Angeles. In fact, Pacquaio seemed completely undeterred in a recent TMZ interview from returning to The Grove to do some shopping or take in a movie.
Pacquiao was banned from the mall back in March by The Grove owner Rick Caruso, who said he did not want Pacquiao on the premises because of Pacquiao's history of anti-gay remarks. In January, Pacquiao said people in gay relationships are "worse than animals."
Caruso claimed many people from the LGBT community shop at The Grove, and he said he did not want to make those people feel uncomfortable by having someone like Pacquiao around. The Grove is just 10 minutes away from where Pacquiao trains in Los Angeles, so it is the most convenient shopping center for the boxer.
Pacquiao explained to TMZ that he does not take the ban seriously because he believes The Grove is a "public place available for everybody." But while the boxer is entitled to visit any public property he wishes, The Grove is not public property.
Caruso owns the complex as a private entity, and he could ostensibly call the cops on Pacquiao to have the boxer removed for trespassing. Doing so would require someone to keep an eye out for Pacquiao so they could call the authorities if they see him there, however, and it is not clear whether Caruso is serious enough about the ban to do that.
