Manning, Cardinals meet for 6-plus hours
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Peyton Manning spent more than six hours at the Cardinals' headquarters and training facility on Sunday in meetings designed to lure the free-agent quarterback to the desert.
The session was even longer than the nearly six hours Manning spent at the Broncos' facility in Denver on Friday night.
Manning waved and smiled at cheering fans as he walked from the building to coach Ken Whisenhunt's white SUV. With the coach at the wheel, Manning waved again as the SUV pulled through the security gate and past the loud supporters.
He was expected to return to his home in Florida. A person familiar with the situation said Monday that Manning will meet with the
Tennessee Titans at some point in the next few days after a session with Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin.
The person spoke to The Associated Press
Monday about Manning's meeting with the Titans on the condition of
anonymity because the location and time of that meeting remain
confidential.
Titans owner Bud Adams made it known
Sunday that he will do whatever it takes to sign Manning and said had talked to Manning's agent, Tom Condon, asking for a visit with
the quarterback.
Manning reportedly no longer plans to make
a decision by Tuesday, the first day of the NFL free-agency period.
Time is of the essence for the Cardinals, who are scheduled to pay
quarterback Kevin Kolb $7 million if he is on the roster Saturday.
According to the Denver Post, contract terms were not discussed during Manning's visits to Denver or
Arizona, at his request. Manning was said to be more
interested in learning about the people he may be playing for and
the teams' facilities.
