Training Camp Part II

The Magic played their 10th game of the season last night, and in the first quarter it looked like the first day of training camp for both Orlando and the Memphis Grizzlies. Turnovers, missed shots, sloppy ball handling, and it continued for both teams throughout the first half.

At the intermission the Magic and Grizzlies had a combined 27 turnovers. Play settled down in the second half, as the Magic led from start to finish in an 89-72 victory. The win gives the Magic a 7-3 record, with plenty of room for improvement on the court.

Grizzly shooting

Defense was key for the Magic on this night. They held the usually high scoring Grizzlies to just 72 points on 36 percent shooting. Memphis shot that poorly just twice all of last season, not surprisingly losing both of those games too, to Detroit and Phoenix.

Randolph Shut Down

The Magic made a conscious decision to make life miserable for Zach Randolph. A Magic killer in recent years, Randolph was stymied by quick, hard double teams from the opening tip, which clearly kept him off balance.

This was a departure from last year
