Magic extend qualifying offers to Harris, O'Quinn
The Orlando Magic extended qualifying offers to forward Tobias Harris and forward/center Kyle O'Quinn, general manager Rob Hennigan announced Tuesday.
Harris and O'Quinn will become restricted free agents on July 1, but by extending qualifying offers to the players by the June 30 deadline, the Magic can match any offer sheet either signs with another team.
Harris averaged a career-high 17.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 34.8 minutes in 68 games (63 starts) last season. He scored in double figures 61 times and had 20+ points 21 times, including a career-high 34 points on Feb. 6 vs. L.A. Lakers. He twice hit game-winning jumpers as time expired, beating Philadelphia on Nov. 5 and Atlanta on Dec. 13. He'll be entering his fifth season in the league in 2015-16.
Acquired by the Magic from the Milwaukee Bucks in February 2013, Harris has played in 156 games (119 starts) for Orlando, averaging 16.2 ppg, 6.9 rpg and 1.7 apg in 33.3 mpg.
O'Quinn was drafted by Orlando in the second round of the 2012 NBA draft. He has appeared in 177 games (41 starts) and has averaged 5.4 ppg and 4.4 rpg. Last season he played in 51 games (17 starts), averaging 5.8 ppg and 3.9 rpg.
