Lions announce training camp schedule; eight open to public
Eight of the Detroit Lions' training camp practices will be open to the public, including one at Ford Field, the team announced Thursday.
Veteran players are scheduled to report July 27 with the first practice set for the following day.
Fans will be allowed to attend practices on August 1 (3:30 p.m.), August 2 (10:30 a.m.), August 4 (8:30 a.m.), August 5 (3:30 p.m.), August 6 (7:30 p.m.), August 7 (2 p.m.), August 11 (3:30 p.m.) and August 13 (2 p.m.)
All of those sessions will be held at the Lions' training facility in Allen Park except for the August 6 night practice, which is at Ford Field.
The team's first two training-camp practices (July 28 and 29) also will be open to season-ticket holders.
The Allen Park facility can accommodate around 1,500 fans. Gates open 30 minutes before practice with fans admitted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The Lions' first preseason game will be August 9 at Ford Field against Johnny Manziel and the Cleveland Browns.
The regular-season opener is September 8, a Monday night, at home against the New York Giants.
