LOS ANGELES (AP) The Los Angeles Marathon will start 30 minutes earlier this weekend because the forecast is calling for record high temperatures.
The full field start time for Sunday's race is moving from 7:25 a.m. to 6:55 a.m.
Race officials will use wave starts to ensure proper spacing between runners and to make it easier to replenish supplies at aid stations early along the 26-mile route. Extra water and fluid supplies will be increased, while misting stations, cold towels and ice will be provided.
Sunday's forecast calls for a high of 86 degrees in Los Angeles, well above the average of 70 degrees.
