Kipnis named to AL All-Star team

CLEVELAND -€“ Major League Baseball today named Indians 2B Jason Kipnis to the American League All-Star Team. Kipnis was voted a reserve in the Player Balloting portion and is going to the All-Star Game for the second time (2013).

So far this year Kipnis is batting .341 (109-320) with 27 doubles, 4 triples, 6 home runs, 35 RBI and 56 runs scored in 80 games. He is leading the American League in doubles (27), runs created (73), times on base (155), is second in WAR (4.9), multi-hit games (31), on-base pct. (.419) and hits (109) and is third in average (.341) and fourth in OPS (.925).

He leads all A.L. second basemen in hits, doubles, triples, walks, average, on-base percentage and OPS. Since May 9 he is batting .382 (78-204) with 42 runs, 23 2B, 3HR & 23 RBI in 52 games and was named American League Player of the Month for May.

The 2015 All-Star Game will be played at Cincinnati's Great American Ball Park on Tuesday, July 14 and will be televised nationally by FOX.
