Kipnis continues sizzling summer
On Wednesday afternoon, Jason Kipnis hit his 16th home run of the season, a right-field solo blast that gave the Indians an early 1-0 lead over the Royals in the rubber match of their series.

The 16 home runs are one shy of Kip's career high of 17, which he set in 2013 after playing in 149 games. He is only 92 games into the current campaign and likely to shatter that previous high. He has also already tied last season's RBI mark with 52.

The dinger continued what has been a torrid month at the plate for the Indians second baseman. Entering Wednesday's game, Kip owned a July slash line of .339/.406/.629 with four homers, six doubles, and two steals. He's hit safely in nine of his last 10 games and 12 of his last 14 in the aftermath of his 13-game hitting streak in late June.
