SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez reached a milestone 800th victory at Saratoga Race Course when Run a Dubb Dubb rallied to edge Touching My Toes in Saturday's first race.
A five-time riding champion at the Spa, the 43-year-old Velazquez continues to add to his mark of most winners by a jockey at the oldest track in the United States.
Velazquez set the Saratoga record with his 694th win on July 27, 2013, passing fellow Hall of Famer Jerry Bailey.
Overall, Velazquez has more than 5,300 career wins. Of Saratoga, he says, ''If I can stay healthy, maybe we'll go for 1,000.''
