Jockey Robby Albarado was injured Wednesday after his mount tossed him off before the third race at Churchill Downs.

Albarado was aboard Smoke'n Al when he got thrown forward and then the horse stepped on him during the post parade.

A track spokesman says Albarado was taken to a hospital for treatment of a facial injury. He was conscious after the fall.

Albarado is scheduled to ride Animal Kingdom on Saturday in the Kentucky Derby.

''I'm not 100 percent sure that he's going to be able to ride tomorrow,'' said Graham Motion, who trains Animal Kingdom. ''He's got a broken nose and lacerations around his eye. But I talked with (his agent) and he's pretty confident that he will be OK for Saturday.''

Earlier this month, Albarado was arrested on charges he assaulted his wife during an argument at the couple's home. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment.
