Jerry Jones sticking with RB Felix Jones

Cowboys running back Felix Jones hasn't made much of an impact over the last month. He failed the conditioning test to open training camp and hasn't shown any burst or exceptional athleticism during the team's first two preseason games.

No play showcased this more than a reception Jones made during the Cowboys' second series Saturday night in San Diego. Jones caught a pass in the flat on third-and-four with plenty of space to pick up a first down. The former first-round pick barely made a move, ran forward and gained three yards.

But it's going to take more than an unimpressive preseason for the Cowboys to part with Jones. According to owner and general manager Jerry Jones, it's "ridiculous" to think the former Arkansas standout would be cut.

"I'm not worried about him at all," Jerry Jones said Tuesday on 105.3's New School show [KRLD-FM]. "From what I've seen out there, he's got a chance to have a really big year for us. I think he's going to be used a lot, especially in the passing game.

"Over the years he's gotten real good at blocking, which is critical to be in the game. I think he and [DeMarco] Murray give us a great one-two punch."

Asked if Felix Jones was in shape?

The owner responded: "Yes he is."

Along with the three-yard grab against the Chargers, Jones carried three times for 10 yards. During the preseason opener in Oakland, Jones rushed twice for four yards.

The four-year veteran missed all of mini-camp and organized team activities as he recovered from off-season shoulder surgery.
